This week is arson awareness week . Fond du Lac Fire Chief Pete O’Leary says every year Fond du Lac firefighters respond to fires that have been intentionally set. O’Leary says fighting an arson fire can be more dangerous and difficult to fight because they are often started in multiple locations, using accelerants. O’Leary says arson fires put the lives of innocent people and firefighters at risk.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
