The Dodge County city of Juneau is receiving a grant to host outdoor movies at Juneau City Park. Juneau has been selected to receive a $1,000 AARP Wisconsin Small Dollar, Big Impact grant for their project. AARP spokesman Jim Flaherty says the city of Juneau’s idea to offer free outdoor movies “hits the nail right on the head.” The grants are awarded once a month throughout the year to projects across Wisconsin that are designed to improve communities and make them better places to live, work and play as they age. Flaherty says judges selected the Juneau project after reviewing dozens of proposals submitted from all over the state.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
