5-13-21 aaa forecast projects big jump in memorial holiday travel

AAA is forecasting Memorial Day holiday travel will rebound to more than 37 million nationwide, and over 700,000 Wisconsinites expected to take a trip during the holiday weekend.  AAA spokesman Nick Jarmusz says that’s a record  60-percent increase from last year.  The predicted jump in travel is still 14 percent below pre-pandemic levels.  A huge increase in air travel is expected, but most Memorial Day travelers will be taking road trips.

5-13-21 mask mandate will continue in nfdl school district

A mask mandate will continue in the North Fond du Lac School District for the remainder of the school year.   The North Fond du Lac School Board voted this week to continue requiring masks.  North Fond du Lac superintendent Aaron Sadoff says it’s clear that masking has worked to keep students safe.  Sadoff says the bottom line is doing what’s best for the safety of students and staff.

5-13-21 fdl intersection closed

A Fond du Lac intersection is closed for a couple of weeks for sanitary sewer work.  Fond du Lac Public Works says the intersection of Doty and Sibley Streets is closed  for two weeks to allow the utility contractor to set up a generator and bypass for the sanitary sewer at the intersection.   The generator will be running 24 hours a day in order to keep  continuous flow of sanitary from the […]

5-13-21 small business owners report record number of unfilled job openings

A new report by the National Federation of Independent Businesses shows a record high reading of unfilled job openings among small businesses.  The April jobs report shows a record 44 percent of small business owners report having job openings they could not fill, 22 points higher than the 48 year historical average and two points higher than March.  NFIB state director Bill Smith says while it’s not a new problem the pandemic has aggravated the […]

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin will receive $700 million less than initially expected in federal coronavirus relief money and it will arrive in two payments a year apart. Gov.
