MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin farmers say spring planting is ahead of schedule this year. Some essential crops, including soybeans and corn, have already been planted because drier weather has allowed farmers to get out into their fields earlier than previous years. This week is arson awareness week .   Fond du Lac Fire Chief Pete O’Leary says every year Fond du Lac firefighters respond to fires that have been intentionally set.  O’Leary says fighting an arson fire can be more dangerous and difficult to fight because they are often started in multiple locations, using accelerants.  O’Leary says arson fires put the lives of innocent people and firefighters at risk.

5-6-21 fdl street closure

The Department of Public Works is informing motorists about the closure of the Hickory Street between Portage Street and Division Street. The closure will begin Wednesday, May 5 and remain closed until Monday, May 10.   The closure will be in place to allow the water utility to replace and restore a water services near the intersection of Hickory Street and Russell Street.  A signed detour will be in place.
