A retired Ripon College economist says he agrees with the assessment of Treasury secretary Janet Yellen that the economic recovery is going to be Bumpy. Retired Ripon College economist Paul Schoofs says any inflation pressures would likely be only temporary. Schoofs says the good news is unemployment continues to fall and the U.S. economy grew at a solid rate during the first quarter.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
