6-15-21 fdl intersection closure

A Fond  du Lac intersection is closed for a couple of days this week for utility work.  The intersection of Doty and Arndt Streets closed Monday and will remain closed through Wednesday. The closure will be in place to allow the utility contractor to continue utility installation as part of the Doty Street reconstruction project.

6-15-21 state biologist pleads no contest in sturgeon caviar case

OSHKOSH, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin’s top sturgeon biologist has pleaded no contest in Winnebago County to obstructing a warden. Ryan Koenigs was charged following an investigation into illegally processing sturgeon eggs into caviar. A judge ordered him to pay a $50 fine. The Department of Natural Resources said Koenigs is on leave is pending the conclusion of an internal investigation. 6-14-21 fdl pair wins merc national walleye tournament

Chad and Josh Liedke of Fond du Lac are the winners of the 2021 Merc National Walleye Fishing Tournament.  The pair caught 23 pounds, 10 ounces of walleye to win the first place prize of a new Lund fishing boat and Merc 150 Pro XS outboard.  Tom and Hunter Camp of Fox Lake finished in second place with 22 pounds, nine ounces of walleye.

6-14-21 attic fire

Nobody was injured in a fire that damaged a Fond du Lac County home.  Shortly before midnight Sunday firefighters were called to the David and Paulette Smit home on Lori Lane in the town of Waupun for a report the kitchen ceiling was blistering hot.  Firefighters located  a fire in the attic and extinguished the fire.    The cause of the fire is believed to be electrical.

6-14-21 youtube suspends senator johnson for covid-19 misinformation

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Republican Sen. Ron Johnson from Wisconsin has been suspended from uploading videos to YouTube for seven days, after the company said he violated its COVID-19 “medical misinformation policies.” The issue stems from statements Johnson made during a June 3 Milwaukee Press Club event. 6-14-21 injury likely to keep shaw out until august

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Travis Shaw likely won’t return until sometime in August after dislocating his left shoulder diving for a ground ball last week. Shaw got hurt Wednesday at Cincinnati and went on the injured list the next day. Brewers manager Craig Counsell provided a timetable before Friday’s game with the Pittsburgh Pirates. 6-14-21 walk-up vaccine clinic at walleye weekend

Walleye Weekend Festival goers had an opportunity to get the COVID-19 vaccine over the weekend.  The Fond du Lac County Health Department and Agnesian HealthCare-SSM Health  offered a Walleye Weekend walk-up COVID-19 vaccine clinic Saturday.    The clinic was offered to anyone 12 years of age and over who has not received the vaccine yet.
