7-20-21 clergy abuse probe

todayJuly 19, 2021

The Wisconsin attorney general says the state Department of Justice has not received the cooperation it was hoping for from Wisconsin’s Catholic dioceses regarding reports of abuse by clergy and faith leaders across the state.  Attorney general Josh Kaul says the Department of Justice has received more than 100 reports of abuse across the state since announcing a statewide investigation in April.  “Some of those people have provided brief reports or reported online, but in other cases some people have had lengthy conversations with victim services specialists,”  Kaul told WFDL news.   “What that means is that victims services are finally being provided to the survivors and of course that’s also helping us with our review into this issue and helping us gain a better understanding of it.”   Kaul reports concerns of  clergy and faith leaders of multiple religious organizations and also include some reports of abuse not related to any religious organization.
