Family mental health is the theme of a Summer Parent Café at Fond du Lac’s Buttermilk Creek Park. Fond du Lac Area United Way director Amber Kilawee says the event is sponsored by the Fond du Lac County Sprout partnership. Kilawee says one of the therapeutic exercises is writing a letter to yourself. “It’s a great way to say whatever. This week my goal is to take a walk by myself, or read that book I’ve been putting off,” Kilawee said. It’s really helpful and self-care.” The event will be held from 5pm to 6:30pm Thursday July 29 at the Buttermilk Creek Park Pavilion.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
