The University of Wisconsin Oshkosh announced today that it will require masks on its campuses for all students, faculty, staff and guests regardless of vaccination status, effective Tuesday, Aug. 10. This decision impacts the Fond du Lac, Fox Cities and Oshkosh campuses. Masks will not be required outdoors on campus, while eating or drinking in common food areas, and for residence hall students in their own room. Chancellor Andrew Leavitt says the decision was made “to protect the health and safety of our campuses.” The University says it will continue to monitor COVID-19 transmission on campus and in the community and will revisit its COVID-19 protocols as the public health situation warrants. The University continues to urge its community to get vaccinated and sees vaccination as the best way to stop the spread of COVID-19.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
