The Fond du Lac County Board chairman says a relocation incentive program would show that Fond du Lac County is a welcoming community. The Fond du Lac County Board this month is expected to consider a proposal that would use sales tax revenue through the county’s revolving loan fund that employers could use to try to lure prospective workers. Five years ago the county board decided against adopting a statement of diversity after a group of Fond du lac area business, education and governmental leaders encouraged the board to do so as a way to help attract workers. Farrell says this relocation incentive program is more effective than an abstract statement. “What’s better, to do something actually concrete like we’re doing with this relocation program, or create a huge maelstrom of controversy that in the end results in the county board not accepting the statement. How does that make us look?”
