The USA Patriots are in Fond du Lac this week to play softball and to host their annual Kid’s Camp. Sixteen kids, ages 8-12 who have amputations and limb deformities are participating in camp activities at Oven Island in Lakeside Park. Event organizer Rob VandeZande says the kids are taught that life without a limb is limitless. The USA Patriots softball team will play a softball game on Saturday August 14 at Dock Spider Stadium against the Families of the Fallen, comprised of family and friends of fallen military, fire, police and correctional officers. The gates open at noon. A second game will feature the kids who participated in the camp. The games are free and open to the public but goodwill offerings are accepted. All of the funds raised go to the Kids Camp.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
