A Green Lake County man is in custody following high speed chases in Fond du Lac and Washington counties. Shortly before 2am Friday a Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s deputy stopped a vehicle on Hwy 45 near Lovers Road in the town of Auburn for several traffic violations. The 49-year-old Green Lake County man fled the scene and a three mile long chase ensued before the deputy terminated the pursuit. Information was relayed to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and the Germantown Police Department arrested the driver after he was involved in another vehicle pursuit in their jurisdiction.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
