9-1-21 fdl lakeside park lighthouse closed for repair

The Fond du Lac  Lakeside Park Lighthouse and Observation Deck are temporarily closed  to the public after regular maintenance revealed water damage to wood.  The Lighthouse will remain closed  until a thorough assessment and necessary repair work is completed.  Public Works director Paul DeVries says safety is the city’s top priority.   Devries says assessments are ongoing and DPW continues work in partnership with experts to  determine the extent of the issue and what repairs may be necessary to resolve the deficiencies and ensure that the lighthouse can reopen to the public once it is safe to do so.
