Adopting a comprehensive, accelerated flood mitigation plan is at the top of the Fond du Lac city council’s list of priorities. The city council developed a set of goals during a workshop session this week. Council president Kay Miller says preventing flooding is at the top of the list. Other goals include developing a riverfront district, improving access and availability to public transportation and create a comprehensive communications program. Miller says the council wants to revisit a study done over a decade ago on a potential Riverfront District.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
