Speed and alcohol appear to be factors in a crash early Tuesday morning on Highway C in Fond du Lac County. According to the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office the driver was southbound on Highway C when he lost control of the vehicle, veered off the road and struck a house. The driver received minor injuries. The crash happened shortly after 1:30am Tuesday.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
