9-10-21 fdl ethics board finds no probable cause

No probable cause has been found after the Fond du Lac Ethics Board met  Thursday morning to discuss an ethics complaint.  The closed door meeting lasted less than an hour.  The Board did not say who the complaint was against or who filed the complaint.  In the past year the Ethics Board has discussed 12 verified complaints in closed session meetings, most recently on August 18.  Two of those complaints were filed against councilmembers Ben Giles […]

9-9-21 fdl lakeside park lighthouse damage-the latest

The Fond du Lac Public Works director says he is not sure how extensive the damage is to the Lakeside Park Lighthouse or how long the structure will be closed to the public.   Water damage to the upright wood members inside the Lighthouse was discovered during routine maintenance.  Public Works director Paul DeVries says a structural engineer will complete a report to determine what needs to be repaired.  Devries says the problem […]

The Oakfield School superintendent says data will dictate whether students and staff need to wear masks this school year.    At a special meeting last week the Oakfield School Board dropped it’s mask requirement.  But superintendent Tracey Conners says a mask requirement will be implemented if certain COVID metrics are met.  Conners says if ten percent of students at any site in the district are out with COVID that site would mask for 15 days.  […]

9-9-21 covid-19 pandemic driving alcohol sales in wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A new report suggests people are buying dramatically more alcohol during the COVID-19 pandemic. The nonpartisan Wisconsin Policy Forum released findings Wednesday that show revenue from state excise taxes on alcohol during the year that ended June 30 increased almost 17% over the $63.3 million they brought in the prior year. Pernat-Haase Meats in Juneau is issuing a voluntary Class II recall of packaged salami distributed to retailers in Juneau, Ionia, and Johnson Creek areas. The recalled product  includes Italian salami with wine, 1 to 1.5 lb. packages, packaged on March 17, 2021.   The recall is because the product contained monosodium glutamate but was misbranded as “no MSG added.”   No illnesses have been reported as a result of consuming this product.  Anyone with signs or […]

9-9-21 thelma sadoff center for the arts names interim director

Fond du Lac’s Thelma Sadoff Center for the Arts has a new interim executive director.   The Thelma board of directors has named Shannon Kupfer  to the post.   Kupfer is currently serving as Curator and Arts Education Coordinator, at Thelma.  She will begin her new role immediately.   Kupfer says she is committed to reaching out to all Thelma constituencies and engaging with all sectors of the Fond du Lac community.
