9-28-21 fdl gas leak repaired

Residents were evacuated following a gas leak in a Fond  du Lac neighborhood.  Fire chief Pete O'Leary says contractors working on a street reconstruction project accidentally struck a gas line at the intersection of Doty and Arndt Streets Monday morning.   O'Leary says nearby residents and businesses were  evacuated and as a precaution Alliant  Energy turned off power to about 45 customers until the leak was repaired.

9-27-21 high speed chase

9-27-21 fdl man seriously injured in motorcycle crash

A Fond du Lac man was seriously injured in an alcohol-related motorcycle crash.  The crash happened shortly before 10pm Saturday on Highway 45 at Garnett Road in the town of Eden.   The  investigation showed the motorcyclist failed to negotiate a curve, slid into private property and struck a tree, ejecting the operator from the cycle.  The Sheriff's Office says 55-year-old Darren Meyer was not wearing a helmet and was flown by […]

9-27-21 polar bear at milwaukee county zoo euthanized

MILWAUKEE (AP) — North America’s oldest polar bear living in human care at the Milwaukee County Zoo has died. Snow Lilly was euthanized Friday due to her declining health and subsequent quality of life concerns. She was 36. The first Food Truck Festival at Lakeside Park was so successful in May that event organizers held an even bigger event on Sunday.   The second Food Truck Festival on Oven Island from 11am to 5pm Sunday featured a variety of food items from nearly two dozen food trucks and tents and an Art Fair.

9-27-21 uw oshkosh student vaccinations at 70 percent

University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Chancellor Andrew Leavitt announced that UWO students have reached a 70% COVID-19 vaccination rate.  In addition to the health and safety benefits of reaching this vaccination milestone, qualifying UWO students are now eligible for several $7,000 scholarships awarded by UW System through its 70 for 70 campaign. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Sales of existing homes in Wisconsin are outpacing last year’s record purchases, but experts say the lack of inventory has tapped down the hot market. The latest report from the Wisconsin Realtors Association shows 56,503 homes were sold between January and August. That’s an increase of 2.7% from the same period in 2020.
