Following the deaths of two AAA tow providers, the Auto Club Group is raising awareness of the dangers emergency responders face on the roadside and how critical it is that drivers follow move over laws. State AAA spokesman Nick Jarmusz says the roadside is a dangerous place for anyone. Jarmusz says there are many reasons these crashes happen, including unfamiliarity with Move Over laws, and the driver being distracted and not realizing there is someone at the side of the road. Legislation is pending in the state senate that would double fines for certain traffic violations committed when crews, including tow truck drivers are on scene. The bill has already been approved by the state Assembly.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
