The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office has identified the victim of a fatal motorcycle crash over the weekend. The victim has been identified as 34 year old Daniel Chase of rural Beaver Dam. The crash happened early Sunday morning when Chase failed to negotiate a curve on South Center Road near Jackson Road and entered a ditch. He was not wearing a helmet. The Sheriff’s Office says speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
