The Fond du Lac County Public Health Officer says a recent drop in the number of positive COVID-19 cases may indicate that this latest surge fueled by the Delta variant has peaked. Kim Mueller says the number of daily positive cases has been down for the last several days. In addition to fewer positive cases there are now nine people hospitalized in Fond du Lac County with the virus, down from 13 at the start of the week. Mueller says these are signs that the surge may have peaked.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
