The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is participating in a statewide Prescription Drug Take Back Event this weekend. On Saturday you may bring your unwanted, unneeded or expired medications to the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM and dispose of them in the drug drop box in the lower level of the sheriff’s office. Schmidt says the concern is that unwanted medications can get into the wrong hands. Additional law enforcement agencies in and around Dodge County who have drug drop boxes include police departments in Beaver Dam, Columbus, Juneau, Lomira, Mayville, Watertown and Waupun.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
