11-12-21 restaurant fire investigation-the latest

The Fond du Lac Fire Chief urges residents not to jump to any conclusions after ATF agents executed a search warrant at Fond du Lac city councilwoman Arletta Allen’s home earlier this month.  Agents with the Eastern Wisconsin Field Office of the state Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives searched the home on North Park Avenue November 2.    ATF and the state Department of Criminal Investigation are conducting a joint investigation into a fire last month that damaged Allen’s restaurant on South Main Street.  Fire Chief Pete Pete O’Leary says gathering evidence and information is not uncommon to try to determine whether a fire was intentionally set or not.  At the same time O’Leary says a search warrant is executed with a specific purpose in mind.  O’Leary contacted DCI the day after the fire at A Family Affair Soul Food Kitchen when it was clear there was no obvious cause for the fire.
