The Dodge County Highway Commissioner is asking residents to show respect, consideration and cooperation with snow plow drivers as the winter season approaches. Highway commissioner Brian Field says in recent years snow plow operators are experiencing more and more accidents and close calls with the same people and vehicles they are trying to help. Field says its a good idea to stay at least 200 feet behind the plow and allow operators to safely do their job. Field says one of the biggest concerns that plow operators face are motorists driving too fast for conditions. A typical Dodge County highway snow plow route is 17 miles long. A snow plow operator can be required to work around the clock for several days with a standard work policy of 16 hours on duty and six hours off between shifts.
