Governor Tony Evers has signed a bill to establish an agriculture and agribusiness export program. The bill will require the state Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection to work with the Wisconsin Economic Development Corporation to create a plan and achieve export objectives by the end of June 2026. The bill’s author, Republican state senator Joan Ballweg says objectives include spending $2.5 million on increasing the value of Wisconsin’s milk and other dairy products, and $1.25 million each to increase the value of Wisconsin meat and crop exports.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
