Notre Dame has announced that Fond Du Lac St. Marys Springs offensive lineman Billy Schrauth has pledged to the Fighting Irish. Schrauth becomes the first player to commit to new head coach Marcus Freeman. Schrauth picked Notre Dame over Ohio State and Wisconsin. He also had offers from Michigan, Penn State, Oregon, Tennessee, Auburn, Nebraska, Stanford, Iowa, Northwestern, Arizona State and Mississippi State. The 6-5, 280-pound guard is ranked as the nation’s No. 124 overall player and the No. 3 guard in the country by Rivals.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
