The number of patients hospitalized in Fond du Lac County with COVID-19 continues to remain high. According to the Fond du Lac County Public Health Office dashboard, 23 people are hospitalized with COVID-19. Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says that places a strain on hospitals that are already short-staffed. Last week Wisconsin’s top health official said 270 Wisconsin health care facilities have requested staffing help and the state has asked for medical reserve teams from the ederal government to provide relief.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
