A residential burglary suspect has been arrested following a high speed chase in Fond du Lac County. Shortly after 9:30am Monday sheriff’s deputies were called to the area of Highway F and state Highway 175 for a report of a home that had been burglarized. Less than a half hour later a vehicle matching the description of the suspect vehicle was spotted near County Highway V and Highway 151. A ten mile long chase ensued, but was terminated because the vehicle was driving into oncoming traffic. A Calumet County Sheriff’s deputy located the vehicle at a gas station in Calumet County and the driver was taken into custody.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
