12-22-21 fdl county hits milestone in covid-19 pandemic

Fond du Lac County has reached another milestone in the pandemic.  Fond du Lac County has topped 20,000 confirmed COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic.  Eighty six new cases were confirmed Tuesday bringing to 20,052 the total number of  confirmed cases in the county.   In the past week there have been ten more COVID-19 deaths reported in Fond du Lac County, bringing to 172 the total number of deaths related to the virus since the pandemic started. Fond  du Lac County Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says it’s sad.  “I wish we weren’t in this position.  I wish we didn’t have the stats we do for the number of deaths we do in our county.”  “If we could turn back time I would try to do better to messaging to get more people to get fully vaccinated,”  Mueller said.  The CDC says Omicron is now the dominant version in the U.S. and the state Department of Health Services has issued a public health advisory that the variant is expected to cause a rapid increase in disease activity in the coming weeks.
