The Fond du Lac Police Department has a new detective. Police Chief Aaron Goldstein has announced officer Christopher Deering has been promoted to detective. Deering was hired as a police officer in 2012. Deering is a member of the Department’s Domestic Violence Intervention Team, certified as a Drug Recognition Expert and the department’s Drone and Robot Unit Coordinator. In his most recent assignment Detective Deering was assigned to the Street Crimes Unit and Lake Winnebago Area Metropolitan Enforcement Group – Drug Unit.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
