The Fond du Lac County Health Department is reporting a huge jump in positive COVID-19 cases to start the new year. Public Health Officer Kim Mueller says 345 new cases were confirmed Tuesday. Mueller says if you test positive, let people know who you were in contact with two days prior to when you started to have symptoms. “We’re seeing whole families test positive,” Mueller told WFDL news. “When it comes to contact tracing, we’re doing contact tracing the best that we can.” Thirty people are currently hospitalized in Fond du Lac County with COVID-19.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
