1-6-22 fdl county executive says pandemic is still top challenge in 2022

The Fond du Lac County executive says just like last year the COVID-19 pandemic continues to be the number one challenge facing the county in the new year.  “A year ago the vaccines had just started and we hoped it was going to take care of the problem but we all know what happened,”  County Executive Al Buechel told WFDL news.  “It went way down by summer and then it started turning back in the other direction and the numbers started going up with the Delta variant.”   Buechel admits he is surprised and disappointed how much hesistancy there has been about getting the vaccine.  “I would have hoped we would have come together on this,”  Buechel said.  “It’s a personal choice for those who really fear it.  They don’t want to do it ( vaccine) but those who are selling their strong opinions on this, I would have hoped they would have not done that because I believe it has definately lowered the number of people who have gotten vaccinated.”
