An incentive program designed to lure people to move to Fond du Lac County to live and work is getting off to a slower start than expected. The Worker Relocation Incentive Program was launched in September giving employers the ability to offer financial incentives to hire an employee willing to move here. Envision Greater Fond du Lac president Sadie Parafiniuk says more than three months into the program the rollout has been a little slower than expected. Parafiniuk says $47,000 has been allocated to five employers of varying sizes. How that money is disbursed is up to the employer. She says one of the companies participating in the program is a start-up business. Parafiniuk says a lot of employers are aware of the program, but haven’t found the right talent yet to make an offer. There are signs the program is starting to see some traction. Parafiniuk says about 170 resumes have been received from people interested in living and working in Fond du Lac County Parafiniuk says she hopes rest of the money in the county revolving loan fund will be used in 2022.
