1-11-22 omicron variant could end pandemic

Experts agree that COVID-19 is here to stay, but new data suggests that the Omicron variant may bring an end to the pandemic.   Vice president of Pharmacy Services with SSM Health Wisconsin Region Mo Kharbat says because Omicron is highly contagious,  there is a possibility that it burns itself out bringing the pandemic to an end.  Kharbat says if that’s the case, there is a chance that we could be in a much better place by this spring, although he says nothing is guaranteed with coronaviruses in general.  But Kharbat says it’s still important not to underestimate the need to be vaccinated,  because even though Omicron is less virulent it’s highly contagious.
