The former chairman of the Republican Party of Fond du Lac County says U.S. senator Ron Johnson’s decision to run for reelection will cause some dominoes to fall within the Republican party. Rohn Bishop says in the end Johnson probably felt the momentum was on the Republican’s side heading into the 2022 election. “Unless something drastically changes between now and November it’s shaping up to be a really big Republican year,” Bishop told WFDL news. Bishop says the spin-off of Johnson’s announcement is that other Republicans that were considering a U.S. Senate bid, like Kevin Nicholson, may now run for governor.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
