1-27-22 radon action month

The Fond du Lac  County Health Department is encouraging residents to get their home tested for radon.    Health Department spokesperson Rhianna Schmidt says during the month of January, short-term radon test kits are available for $5 at the Health Department on the third floor at the city-county government center.  Schmidt says the Department of Health Services estimates that one of ten homes in Wisconsin have high radon levels.   The Health Department recommends […]

1-27-22 assembly leaders reject effort to call back electors

1-27-22 not much change in local unemployment rate

There was not much change in the local unemployment rate last month.  The Dodge County jobless rate was up one tenth of a percent to 1.6 percent in December.  Fond du Lac County's unemployment rate was unchanged at 1.5 percent.  The city of Fond du Lac unemployment rate in December was 1.6 percent, down from 1.7 percent in November.

1-26-22 milk truck hits house near eden

Nobody was injured when a milk truck crashed into a house in Eden.  According to the Fond du Lac County  Sheriff’s Office shortly after 7pm Tuesday a northbound truck on Highway 45 swerved to miss a deer, drove into a ditch, lost control crossing both lanes of traffic,  striking a house on the west side of the  roadway.  A 41-year-old Eden man inside the residence was not injured.

The coldest weather of the season is resulting in some area schools cancelling classes Wednesday.   A wind chill advisory is in effect for south central and southeast Wisconsin including Dodge and Fond du Lac counties from 8pm Tuesday until noon Wednesday.  Wind chills of -20 to -30 are in the forecast.
