An active member of the Republican Party of Fond du Lac County and former party chair says he is not surprisesd that Republican Kevin Nicholson has joined the Wisconsin governor’s race. Rohn Bishop says former Lieutenant Governor Rebecca Kleefisch has a head start racking up donations and endorsements for months. Bishop says the concern for Republicans is that an expensive and brusing Republican primary in the battleground state would be good news for Democratic governor Tony Evers.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
