MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Online retailer Amazon plans to build a $200 million distribution center in Dane County. The Wisconsin State Journal reported Saturday that the company is working with a developer on plans for a five-story, 3.4 million-square-foot facility in Cottage Grove. U.S. employers stepped up hiring in January, adding 467,000 jobs despite a wave of omicron infections that sickened millions of workers, kept many consumers at home and left businesses from restaurants to manufacturers short-staffed.  Retired Ripon College economist Paul Schoofs admits the numbers are surprising.  The unemployment rate ticked up to 4% from 3.9 %.  Job gains in December were also revised much higher.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A couple from northeastern Wisconsin have claimed $316 million won in a Powerball drawing last month. The Wisconsin Lottery said Monday that Tammy and Cliff Webster split a $632.6 million jackpot from the Jan. 5 drawing with a winner who bought a ticket in California. A Fond du Lac County man was seriously injured after falling from a ladder.   Rescue personnel were called Sunday morning to a residence on Savage Road in the town of Waupun for a report that a 50 year old man fell approximately 20 feet off a ladder while he was attempting to trim a tree limb.  He was flown by helicopter to ThedaCare Regional Medical Center in Neenah with what were described as significant […]
