A Republican lawmaker from Beaver Dam says a package of election bills passed by the Republican controlled legislature last week are about ensuring election integrity. State representative Mark Born Republicans are to make sure that it’s easy to vote but hard to cheat. “People are concerned about things that happened in the last election with ballot harvesting in the park, the way some of the absentee ballots were handled. The nonpartisan audit showed a lot of problems with how WEC (Wisconsin Elections Commission) handled the election, mistakes that were made by clerks, things that are unclear in the statutes that could use some clarification. These bills really address all those issues,” Born told WFDL news. Born says Republican lawmakers want to make sure that folks have faith in the system. Governor Evers has promised to veto the bills.
