3-28-22 ripon woman arrested following vehicle chase, home entry in fdl

Nobody was injured and a Ripon woman is in custody after leading Fond du Lac police on a vehicle chase before entering an occupied  home  in the city of Fond du Lac.  The chase started  shortly before 7am Sunday when a  police officer attempted to make a traffic stop on a vehicle driving recklessly in the area of Martin Avenue and East Pioneer Road and the vehicle attempted to intentionally ram the squad car.  The vehicle pursuit reached speeds of approximately 40mph traveling through several residential areas in the southeast and northeast portions of the City before coming to a stop in the 100 block of Schubert Lane.   The driver fled on foot entered a nearby residence through an open garage door.  The 88 year old female homeowner was home at the time, and her husband had just left to get some breakfast.    A Fond du Lac Police detective who was familiar with and had previous contacts with the 39 year old suspect was able to convince the suspect to surrender without incident about an hour later.   A passenger in the vehicle, a 24 year old North Fond du Lac resident was also arrested.  Police say the investigation is continuing and no further information is being released at this time.
