Construction begins Monday on a 14-mile stretch of State Highway 23 from Seven Hills Drive in Fond du Lac County to Sheboygan County Highway P in the Town of Plymouth. It is the last stretch of the 19-mile project that expanded the divided-highway to 4 lanes and realigned it. Highway 23 will remain open to traffic throughout construction. The work should be finished by the end of July.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
