The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office is joining law enforcement agencies across the country reminding drivers to buckle up when they get behind the wheel. The Sheriff’s Office is participating in the Click It or Ticket campaign through June 5. Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s captain Bill Tadych says thousands of lives could be saved each year if people wore their seatbelt. About 88 percent of Wisconsin motorists wear seatbelts. That number has been dropping in recent years. Half of the drivers and passengers involved in deadly traffic crashes in Wisconsin in 2021 were not wearing seatabelts.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
