The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office is out in force this Memorial Day Holiday weekend. The Sheriff’s Office is reminding motorists to buckle up, put their phones down, and drive carefully through work zones. Sheriff’s captain Bill Tadych says make sure to slow down and eliminate distractions while driving this holiday weekend. Tadych says be prepared to move over or slow down when approaching emergency responders that are stopped along a highway with their warning lights flashing. Most road construction will pause during the weekend.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
