The local unemployment rate is down in April.  The Dodge County unemployment rate fell four tenths of a percent to 2.5 percent.  In Fond du Lac County the jobless rate in April stands at 2.3 percent, down from 2.8 percent in March.  The city of Fond du Lac's unemployment rate dropped from 2.5 to 2.3 percent.

Ripon College has announced that Victoria Folse will be the 14th president of Ripon College and the first woman to be formally inaugurated as president of Ripon College in its 170-year history.   She will succeed Zach Messitte, who announced in September 2021 that he was resigning from Ripon College.  Current interim President Andrea Young, meanwhile, has been appointed as the next vice president for finance and administration and chief financial officer at DePauw University in Indiana.  […]

SSM Health Dale Michels Heart and Vascular Care has announced a multi-million dollar expansion project in Fond du Lac.  The $8.5 million expansion is bolstered by a $3 million donation from the Dale Michels family to honor the legacy of the late owner and president of Michels Pipeline Construction who died at age 65 following a heart attack in 1998.    Agnesian HealthCare Foundation executive director, Shawn Fisher, says the expansion will […]

Nobody was injured in a fire that destroyed a garage and two cars parked outside the garage in Fond du Lac.  Shortly before 7:30pm Tuesday firefighters were called to a residence at 407 East Merrill Avenue and quickly extinguished the fire which also caused minor damage to the home and a neighboring  garage.  The cause of the fire is under investigation. photo: fdl fire and rescue

The Fond du Lac city council will get it's first look at a feasibility study to build a pedestrian bridge connecting Lakeside Park to Lakeside Park West at their meeting Wednesday night.   The cost to build a  210 foot long wood deck bridge is estimated at just over $1.5 million, or $1.6 million for a concrete deck bridge.   The report concludes the project is feasible.  If the council moves forward the next steps would include […]
