The Public Health Accreditation Board has announced that the Fond du Lac County Health Department has achieved accreditation status. Fond du Lac County Health Officer Kim Mueller says the designation comes after the Health Department went through a systematic and peer-reviewed process against national standards. Mueller says accreditation is a demonstration of the Department’s commitment to contiinuous quality and performance improvement. Public Health Accreditation is voluntary. Mueller says the Health Department chose to go through the rigorous process to improve the delivery of programs and services.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
