6-13-22 gas leak forces evacuation in waupun

A gas leak  forced an evacuation in the city of Waupun.  A construction crew hit a gas main Friday afternoon near Madison and Doty Streets.  Waupun Utilities shut off power to the area and nearby homes were evacuated.   Approximately 350 customers were affected.  The Waupun Senior Center was opened as a temporary shelter for anyone who needed power however it wasn’t utilized. The Fond du Lac Police and Fire Commission has narrowed the list of finalists for the next Fond du Lac Fire Chief to one candidate...interim Fire Chief Erick Gerritson.  Nine candidates from throughout the United States and Canada applied for the position.  At a June 9 meeting the commission reviewed the applicants and determined that one qualified candidate would be placed on the finalist list.  The commission will interview Gerritson June 14. 6-13-22 uw regents extend undergraduate tuition freeze

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — The University of Wisconsin System Board of Regents has approved freezing tuition for in-state undergraduate students again this year. The regents approved the freeze as part of the system's 2022-23 budget Thursday. 6-10-22 fdl police investigating gunshots

No injuries were reported  following  reports of gunshots fired in Fond du Lac early  Friday morning.  Shortly after 12:30am Friday officers to called to the area  of North Peters Avenue and West Arndt Street and located several handgun casings. There were no reported injuries or property damage.  This incident remains under investigation.    Anyone with information  is asked to call the Fond du Lac Police Department.

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A new study has found that tourists spent nearly $13 billion in Wisconsin last year as the state rebounded from the COVID-19 pandemic.
