Fond du Lac County Board chairman Sam Kaufman has been elected  Fond du Lac County executive in a landslide.   Kaufman received 5,447 of the 6,548 votes cast.  A special election was held Tuesday for the position following the unexepected death of longtime county executive Al Buechel in March.  County Board supervisor Tiffany Brault and Rick Gedemer ran as registered write-in candidates.   Kaufman was the only candidate to circulate nomination papers.  […]

A divided Wisconsin Supreme Court says the state health department can release data on coronavirus outbreak cases, information sought two years ago near the beginning of the pandemic. The Fond du Lac  Police Department says a convicted  violent child sex offender is being placed in Fond du Lac County.  Richard  Wuest  has been granted supervised release and will be living at a Hickory Street residence near the county Highway Department garage.  In 1989 and in 1996, Wuest was convicted in Fond du Lac County of sexually assaulting two girls, ages nine and six that were known to him.  Wuest was ordered to […]

MILWAUKEE (AP) — Wisconsin-based Kohl's Corp. is in negotiations to sell the company to the group that runs Vitamin Shoppe stores. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports that the Menominee Falls-based retailer said Monday that it has entered negotiations with Franchise Group Inc. to acquire the company at $60 per share. MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A man accused of killing a retired Wisconsin judge and who had a list in his vehicle that included prominent national political figures has died. Authorities say 56-year-old Douglas Uhde shot former Juneau County Circuit Judge John Roemer in Roemer’s New Lisbon home on Friday before shooting himself.
