Rain put a damper on the Fond du Lac County Fair Saturday night forcing the the Fair to shut down early. Severe thunderstorms resulted in the Fairgrounds closing for a couple hours before reopening at 7:30pm Saturday, only to close again about an hour and half later when more thunderstorms moved through.
The Dodge County Sheriff’s Office is accepting applications for the Dodge County Sheriff’s Office Citizen Academy. Fond du Lac Festivals says Walleye Weekend last month raised more than a quarter million dollars for area non profit organizations. Attendance at this year's three-day event was estimated at 45,000, with over $250,000 raisesd for 36 area non-profits. Festival goers purchased more than 2300 pounds of walleye dinners and sandwiches, nearly 2700 pounds of cheese curds, and 51,000 cans of Budweiser products. The Fond du Lac Dock Spiders baseball team is teaming up with the Fond du Lac Rec Department, Public Library, and Fond du Lac Area United Way to promote reading for kids. United Way director Amber Kilawee says Dock Spider players will be reading to kids at Parkside and Waters Elementary Schools on July 22.
