7-21-22 waupun man sentenced to prison for killing grandmother

A Waupun man has been sentenced to prison in the beating death of his grandmother.   Gregory Spittel was sentenced to 13 and a half years in prison and seven and a half years extended supervision.   Spittel was convicted  of multiple charges including ssecond degree reckless homicide in the August 2019 beating death of 75 year old Carol Foreman.  Police say Spittel was upset Foreman  spoke to police about his  drug use causing […]

7-20-22 fatal rollover crash in dodge county

One person was killed in a one vehicle rollover crash in Dodge County.  The crash happened shortly after 12:30am Wednesday on Highway G near Highway CP in the Township of Westford.   The 59 year old male driver failed to negotiate a curve, and was ejected from the vehicle.  He was pronounced dead at Marshfield Medical Center in Beaver Dam.

7-20-22 high speed pursuit-interstate 41

Another high speed pursuit in Fond du Lac County  involving illegal drugs.  It started in Winnebago County and continued on Interstate 41 southbound in Fond du Lac County.  The chase ended when the vehicle and entered the ditch near Quad Graphics in Dodge County and the driver fled on foot.  He was quickly apprehended  A bag tossed from the vehicle during the chase was recovered and  contained what was described as a significant amount of […]

The Fond du Lac County Fair officially is underway and runs through Sunday.  The Fair  kicked off Tuesday night with professional  bull riding and barrell racing and a fireworks show.  Tuesday is $1 ride day on the Midway.   A tractor and truck pull will be held at 6pm Tuesday at the Grandstand.   Fond du Lac County Dairy and Livestock exension agent Tina Kohlman says livestock judging is being held Tuesday.  Big name entertainment this […]

7-20-22 safety features added at state fair

WEST ALLIS, Wis. (AP) — Wisconsin State Fair officials say they’ve added several safety features for this year’s event next month in suburban Milwaukee. The enhancements include modular vehicle barriers to direct pedestrian and vehicle traffic. Gate entrances have also been configured to improve better traffic flow as people enter and exit. 7-20-22 two fdl men charged in 2016 mailbox bombing

Two Fond du Lac men have made their initial Fond du Lac court appearances in connection with a mailbox bombing on Doty Street that occurred more than six years ago.  Elliot Schneider and Jonas Johnson made their initial appearances on multiple charges including Damage to Property with use of an Explosive, First Degree Reckless Injury and Recklessly Endangering Safety.   The charges carry a maximum sentence of 70 years in prison.  Schneider was released on […]

7-20-22 spielberg among big donors to wisconsin governor’s campaign

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A tally shows filmmaker Steven Spielberg, the most commercially successful director of all time, donated $20,000 to Democratic Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers’ campaign. Spielberg and his wife, actress Kate Capshaw, were among 31 people who gave Evers the maximum $20,000. That's according to information released Tuesday by the Wisconsin Democracy Campaign. 7-20-22 fdl man resentenced to prison for dealing meth

A Fond du Lac man is going to prison for dealing methamphetamine.  Adrian Irby was sentenced to eight years in prison followed by seven years extended supervision.  Irby was resentenced this week after the court last year relied on a sentencing enhancer that was not applicable at sentencing when Irby received a 14 year prison sentence.  The charges had carried a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison.
