A Seymour man is in custody following a high speed chase in Fond du Lac County thanks to On Star technology. The chase Saturday evening started after the Fond du Lac County Dispatch Center received a report of a stolen vehicle being tracked through General Motors Company southbound on Interstate 41 near County Highway N. Sheriff’s Lieutenant Chris Dobyns says when a deputy began to pursue the vehicle General Motors Company was able to remotely turn on the stolen vehicles ‘ hazard lights and disengage the accelerator pedal for the vehicle. The vehicle then rolled to a stop on 41 near Military Road where a high risk stop was conducted. The driver was taken into custody without incident. Interstate 41 southbound was shut down for traffic for a brief period of time while officers stopped the vehicle. A 39 year old Seymour man is being held at the Fond du Lac County Jail on charges of fleeing/eluding and operating a motor vehicle without owner’s consent.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
