The Fond du Lac Area United Way fund drive is officially underway. Executive Director Amber Kilawee says this year’s goal is $500,000. “99% of what we raise here stays here to impact one in three people throughout the county,” Kilawee told WFDL news. Kilawee says this year’s pacesetter, Holiday Automotive, helped kickstart the campaign raising more than $64,000.

A house fire near New Holstein claimed the life of a child. Shortly after 2am Wednesday firefighters were called to the scene on Honeymoon Hill Road near County Road T. A child in the home was pronounced dead at a hospital. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
